One Night I’m driving home the Country radio station announces that we have a new guy called Charlie Major from Ottawa with a brand new single. The song was called “Back in 73”. Well I just fell in love with it. For weeks they played it on radio and I decided to try and find him. Well I managed to find 6 or 8 C Majors out in the Ottawa area and I called everyone of them and left messages. Finally after two weeks what shows up in the mail? Five 45’s with a note from Charlie stating these were the latest singles and his new album would be out soon.
Well here it is years later and Charlie is a Canadian Icon. He’s in the Country Music Hall of Fame. He helps raise money for charities. Did you know that Charlie had so many hits that there was even a tribute band called The Other Side that played all charlies hits. For a Canadian thats when you know you know you’ve made it when someone goes around and plays a tribute to you. I know this as my Brother inlaw was part of the act. I can say that Charlie Major is very humble and has always been there throughout the years helping us and many other people in the music business.

We were having so much fun. Playing everywhere. The great thing about back in those days is Bands. We would teach and than the bands would go on When a band would take a 20 min break then the Dj would play a few songs and I always would ask for a band set list so I would not play any of those songs that they were playing. Another thing back in those days is Bands would play like 6 gigs. 1 thur. 1 fr. 2 Sat and 2 Sun. Yes Sat/ Sun/ Matinees. How many bands remember that. What happen to those days? I miss those days. That being said many bars wanted that extra day , So Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs. became very busy for them in Line Dancing and 2 stepping. I got so Popular From going around with Gord an Georgina that POLYGRAM RECORDS called me up and asked me to get a couple of teachers and come down to the Polygram Office and talk about a new guy that was going to set the Line Dance Craze all over the world and we would be part of that Craze.
